Full Description:

Wal-Mart started construction this week pouring footings for the new Locust Super Center. (see photo below). I was told this week that Bo Jangles should start in the next couple of weeks on the Locust store on West Main Street.-----------------------­---- Charleston Place located on the old Western Hills Mobile Home Park had its Ribbon Cutting this past week. This is an adult living community that is a first for Locust. Charleston Place will be a golf cart community with plans to connect it with the Locust Town Centre on cart paths. A club house is planned near the lake area. This is an up scale development with all the amenities.--------------------­------- West Stanly Fire and Georgeville answered a fire alarm call this past Wednesday on one of the construction sites in Charleston Place. A straw blowing machine caught fire while developers were spreading straw. Ten firefighters responded.--------------------­--- The Locust Lions held their Thanksgiving dinner this past Thursday night in the Locust Community Building. Carl Benson and his Wildcats from Mt. Pilot entertained during the dinner and played dance music as the Lions danced the night away.-------------------------­- The Locust City Council will have a call meeting this Monday, November 17, 2008 at 12:00 noon in Council Chambers behind Locust City Hall.-------------------------­-- Wet weather started Thursday and before it's all said and done we should receive over an inch of rain. It looks like this coming week will be colder than normal. Some forecasters are calling for a cold and above normal wet winter.-----------------------­-------- The City of Locust has scheduled leaf pickups for the following dates, Nov. 15th, Dec. 13th, and Jan. 31st, and scheduled bulk goods pickup for Jan 24th. ------------------------------­-------For more go to the Locust Patch see link below.
